Profile

About Me:
About me...hummm, well, I'm happily married for 37 years to a man I see as the hero in my life. We have two grown kids, not married so no grandkids. I'm jealous. So, how'd I get into writing...I love to read. I have the first book I read in one day...A Lantern In Her Hand. Well, okay I recently bought it because the original was a library book and I don't steal from libraries. I also read all of the Black Stallion series and got into Zane Grey. That was before I got into showing horses.
I believe I was born loving the animals however, I traded my two gelding in for a great stud and he gave me two great kids. I then started riding student instead of showing horses. Did that for eight years when I got caught up teaching King Arthur to my eighth graders. Well, I wrote my first historical manuscript 250,000 words that, like a newborn, was the most beautiful story born. Right. Anyway, research revealed that ole Arthur wasn't a king...but a Celtic chief...okay drawn again into more fascination as Norse Mythology. (Oh I do love Thor and Adventures in Babysitting) Well, you don't run into a Celt without smashing into a Roman somewhere...and that is quicksand. I'm still stuck here in the first century. And am loving it.
So, when I'm not writing, I'm cleaning the house that I've neglected or gardening, or traveling somewhere. He keeps me sane...thus a hero

It was conceived BEFORE Word. oh yeah, lost all formating there. And now I'm working on my Roman Britain series that has been shelved for far too many years. It's so good to be home.

I agree with you on the movie industry bringing the ancient civilizations back to life (I'm so clever). Here's my favorite part of the Pressfield book (pg372). Leonidis is talking to the lady Arete, Dienekes' wife: "I will never tell the Three Hundred why I appointed these three hundred. I will never tell the Three Hundred for themselves. But I tell you now. I chose them not for their own valor, but for that of their women."

Now that gets me every time I read it.

I haven't read Gate of Fire, but I have recently read Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield (Legend of Bagger Vance author). While first-person storytelling is not my favorite, I enjoyed Pressfield's version of the Battle of Thermopylae in that it was told from the point of view of a survivor who had insider knowledge of Leonidis' character as well as Dienekes.' The conversation toward the end of the book when Leonidis talks about the courage of Spartan women is particularly moving to me. Dienekes' philosophical discussion of "the opposite of fear" is also worth contemplating.

Oh No. Not blessed without Broadband. I have to make a video for my book's promo and up load it to several sites. Twice today I've been reminded of this by you and Ginger Simpson who entered her video in a contest.
When I'm in Switzerland in May I should not only photograph but video some of the setting spots of The Unhewn Stone. I should be able to do that on a small digital camera, shouldn't I. How long should the total video be. About 3 minutes. I figure about 20 second segments. That would give me 9 points of interest. And can you 'splice' - my Dad spliced the tape on the movie camera - That dates me, eh!
For someone who claims to have little attention for detail, you certainly contradicted yourself with this achievement. I envy you.

Congratulations on your achievement. I have dial up so my speed is too slow for videos but I do admire your ability.

Well, I'm here, still not sure what it's all about or how much time I have to explore, but I'm here and glad of it!
