Profile

About Me:
I'm a full time Mommy of 3, sitting on a fancy college degree. I am an avid book collector. Once when I needed the money, I sold a first edition, mint "Catcher in the Rye" for $500. I was ecstatic until I found out later that I probably could have got $5000 for it! I once had a very worn first edition of Pollyanna with a pink satin cover and gilded lettering. It was falling apart. I knew it was valuable when I was 10 years old, I carried it around a lot like other children might carry a favorite doll. Sadly, I lost it! In the 4th grade after reading Pollyanna and anything by Gene Stratton Porter, I moved onto Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Sense and Sensibility, Edith Wharton, William Faulkner, etc... I only recently realized that I was a lover of Historical Fiction. For years I worked at a Living History Museum performing and interpreting 1836 while taking graduate courses in American History. Lately, (about a month) I have been writing Children's Picture Books. It is exhilarating to do something for myself again. However, it is extremely difficult to find time! I doodle pictures and write verse only to have it scribbled on by my 1 year old who proudly looks at me, "Draw picture?" Yep... you sure did... I wait anxiously for the mail. I've found it can even be exciting to get rejection form letters, at least I'm out there trying! BELIEVE! I loved working on the Prairie at the museum, no t.v., no phones, no computers... It was hard work cooking and cleaning, churning butter, and milking cows. Since I've been writing, I keep thinking write what you know.... It finally hit me like a ton of bricks! I know history... I know historical fiction... I've lived it! So, now I need advice and pointers as I move into the grown up world of books. I know I can do this... I've been writing all my life. It's time to get serious!
