Profile Information

About Me:
I'm a longtime English and Creative Writing teacher. While studying screenwriting in L.A. some years ago, I was asked by a friend to "do something" with a translated diary of his ancestor, a countess in 1790s Poland. That put me on a lifelong journey. It took years to get her Gone with the Wind kind of story to the public.

I self published first, and then St. Martin's Press picked up PUSH NOT THE RIVER (2003). They immediately requested a followup and AGAINST A CRIMSON SKY came out in 2006.

Both books have become bestsellers in Poland, and PUSH NOT THE RIVER is being optioned for film.

My first book trailer

Hi, all, I hope you'll take two minutes to enjoy my book trailer for PUSH NOT THE RIVER. Anyone interested in details regarding its making may feel free to contact me. Its cost was really quite reasonable. Enjoy the waning summer days! Jim

Hi Jim;

Thanks for accepting me as a friend. My wife's family is originally from Poland. We all have enjoyed both your terrific books and are looking forward to the movie. This summer we were in Poland and attended a wedding and visited many of the historical cities and sites. The scenes from your novels were superimposed, before my eyes, on the landscape I watched out of the tour bus windows.

Hope you will write another novel to make your project a trilogy.

Best Regards,

Can't wait to read them! Do you still do screen-writing?

Hi Jim,

So glad to have you as a friend. Just got back from a 17-day book tour up north and then company here in Florida for 10 days. Now I'm playing catch up and resubmitting another manuscript to my publisher. Sometimes there doesn't seem to be enough time in a day to get everything completed.

Will view your trailer later this coming week. Good luck with the film.

James,
I enjoyed reading about your books, as well as visiting your website.

I'd love what steps you had to take to have your books picked up by St. Martin's Press. My first three novels were pod published, and are currently out of print. I'd like to do a rewrite, and then resubmit them. But I haven't been sure how to go about it, and how hopeful I should be.

I'd love to hear your view.

Hi Jim,

I'm not actually Irish, I just married a guy who's 1/2 Irish and 1/2 Welsh. But I love Irish heroes! We're hoping to visit England, Ireland and Wales in the summer of '09.

Have a great New Year!
Cynthia
