Great idea Rita.

Oh this is good. There seems to be a wealth of Romance agents but not historical.
I've heard of Irene. She's a hard sell tho.

I looked for Myra and Jenny on FirstWriters.com and they didn't come up listed. Has anyone dealt with www.firstwriter.com as a resource for finding and agent/publisher?

I've never tried them, but will check out their website.

I queried the agents (US) listed above and got rejections from three. I'm waiting to hear back from 3 Seas Lit. Agency. I've been getting great feedback and personal letters back saying my writing is good and they liked my book but it wasn't for them. I think the problem sometimes is there are agents looking for a strong romance element and when they don't get that in a historical fiction manuscript they pass.

What do you all think of sending queries to UK agents if you exhaust your list of US agents? I'm getting a bit frustrated, and I've been thinking of going that route next, or submitting to publishers directly.

I don't know if this is a good idea but I don't think it's a new idea. The above website has a huge list of UK agents and comes with positive and negative comments. It has a list of US agencies too. But I doooo know your frustration, my dear.

I tried the U. K. (and Irish) agents on several projects. Didn't get one, but the replies were on the average much more courteous than for the U. S., if that's any help! "Bloomsbury" has a list of them.

Rita, it depends on what you write as to whether you should try UK agents or not.
If you write historical romance, that's high on romance, like the type Avon publishes then you'll need a US agent as from what I've found The UK publishers don't publish this type of romance, they publish more of the historical mainstream with romantic elements in it.
(You can submit to Avon directly through email if you write what they publish)
If you want to be published in the USA, then go for a US agent.
I know how frustrating it can be. My current agent is my third. The first two aren't worth mentioning. LOL
