About Me:
I began writing around 1989 after attending a family reunion, where my cousin, Nora Roberts, handed me a copy of one of her books. Having always loved great historical fiction, my heart got racing toward a desire to write. Or I might truly admit that the desire was rekindled. In many of my stories, I write about the struggles endured by early colonists, with a mixture of both American and English history. Readers will find that my books do not follow a genre formula. I allow each story to take on a life of its own.

I has several writing projects going on right now. Last year, I finished the rough for Surrender the Wind, a story of romance and mystery set in Virginia and England. It went through a round of revisions in August, and is now complete, or at least until an editor whips out a red pen and decorates the manuscript with it.

I'm looking for an agent!

I began writing Beside Two Rivers in late 2006, of which I have several chapters in rough draft, with tons of notes and the story ruminating in my head. You might be curious about the title. Along the borders of Maryland and Virginia, two rivers converge, the Potomac and the Shenandoah. The story begins there, in a breath-taking setting as the Revolutionary War comes to a close.

There are other novels next on my list for revisions and will be ready for submissions in the near future. These novels were previously pod published and are out of print. It is not uncommon for a writer to have several manuscripts sitting on their desk. I have the beginnings of a great mystery novel started entitled Seven Golden Candlesticks.

I am also the editor for Stepping Stones Magazine for Writers. http://www.freewebs.com/steppingstonesforwriters/

Finally ~ Surrender the Wind

This might come to you in duplicate...I'm on several Ning sites so forgive me if you get more than one announcement.

It's been several years since I published my last book. Finally, after two years of writing, and several more years of rewriting and submitting to editors, my newest historical romance is being released through a wonderful publisher, Abingdon Press. I thought I'd let you know that Surrender the Wind is available for order from online bookstores such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble,… Continue

I would love to sit down with you and discuss historical fiction, although I'm a long away from you, in England.

I had a good look at your page and I see that early colonists is what you write about. Congratulations on selling your book "Tangled Hearts" by the way. I am as yet unpublished, sadly, although I have completed several novels. I started another one a little while ago and I have now got to the stage of understanding what works and what doesn't. Before I start writing again, I want to gain a better understanding of historical markets.

I've also written a number of short stories, some historical, some not, and I'm again looking into good places to sub those. I belong to a creative writing site, on to which we can post our work, but it is only visible to members. I have got a lot of support from the other members.

Thank you for adding me as a friend, by the way.

Hi Rita,
Yes, we are practically neighbors! And thanks for the info about Turn the Page. I believe I sent them a review copy way back when and never heard back. I'm not good about followups! Is Bruce the person I would talk to? I assume they get bombarded with so many requests, I always hesitate to be pushy (I'm NOT a good sales person).

thanks for that.
Yes, it certainly has inspired me! I've switched from writing and reading crime fiction and am now trying my hand at an historical romance--kind of gothic romantic suspense!
anyway, lovely hearing from you.
And Maryland's beautiful! and probably rains a lot less!!!!
