Give me a pat on the back--after 21 contemporary books, 5 of which are published, I made the jump into medieval historical. I love this time period--why didn't I write this stuff before? Maybe a matter of the right thing in the right season? Praise God for it anyway!
Christina, did we meet at conference? I had to skip ACFW's 2007 meet in Dallas, but maybe before that?
And Rita, that Kinnard family isn't us, unless you go back hundreds of years, probably. My inlaws' family hails from Oklahoma and Tennessee. Dad K calls 'em hillbillies.

Hi Deb,
My niece is a Kinnard by marriage....a big family in southeast Pennsylvania.
I like medievals as well, although I've never tried my hand at writing one. I love the Cadfael mysteries, but admit I've only watched the series on PBS and haven't read the books.
Ever read Judith Merkle Riley? Great stuff. It's been out for some time but still in print, and IMO she gets the medieval "flavor" spot-on. Terrific characterization, too.
I tried Sharon Penman's THE SUNNE IN SPLENDOUR and couldn't get through it. Or am I thinking of someone else??
Drat these brain freezes, they do muddle my wits exceeding sore.
Hi Deb,
Welcome to the network! I love medieval historicals though I seldom get the time to read any. Will I ever venture there in my own writing? Don't know; I've gone as far back as the Restoration (time of Charles II) which was a great deal of fun, so who knows? Your example is inspiring, though!

Welcome to the network.
Medeivals are my favourite read. I adore Elizabeth Chadwick's books, and she's on this network too, and Sharon Penman is another favourite.
Take care,
Anne.~
