Hi Carol,
Where is your novel based, during the Conquest? On my recent holidays we went to Normandy and I've been to various towns where William stayed. Sadly there's very little left but with some imagination I could almost see those old Normans prepare for the big push. :-)
Edinburgh is lovely and we enjoy it here. You should definitely visit one day.
