The Life of Characters

Did you ever have the feeling that your characters have a life of their own? After just finishing up my "Me and King John" MS, I suddenly felt that I had abruptly left the richly endowed world in which the dead king was "existing" -- as well as abandoning my own persona who was talking to him in the novel plus a raft of other historic personages. I suppose I could immediately sit down and start a sequel. But that's a lot of work! Instead, I've taken the easy way out and tried turning my blog (the one on this site) over to the king. I'll be interested to hear what he has to say and what happens to him now!
